The Crystal Lake name comes from the area’s first European settlers, Beman and Polly Tuttle Crandall, who arrived in 1836 with six children and settled by a sparkling clear lake (Crystal Lake), with prairie and woods surrounding it. An Indian trail, forged by the Sac and Fox tribes, from Fort Dearborn in Chicago to northwest Wisconsin, runs through Crystal Lake but now is known as Route 14 / Virginia Street. A log cabin served as the town's first Trading post, INN & Stage couch stop and was know as the Lyman-King House, on Virginia St. near Pomeroy Ave. Downtown Crystal Lake was first called Dearborn and later, Nunda because the many residents originated from New York state. Eventually, the towns consolidate after a long disagreement with the village of Nunda to change its name to the village of North Crystal Lake. Crystal Lake was later annexed to the Village of Crystal Lake in 1914. Since Crystal Lake's name was heavily influenced by the outdoor beauty it naturally has it is only fitting that there is over 40 parks with over 2,000 acres of recreation areas to relax around the naturally beautiful lakes. With the history of Crystal Lake being such a great area to enjoy the outdoor landscapes, residents wanted beautiful weed-free lawns and Tree Care maintained by Aaron, helping people keep their own outdoor spaces looking beautiful. Aaron's Greenscape has been treating lawns in Crystal Lake with Fertilizer, weed control and Tree Care for customers' property to look beautiful for over 20 years. Aaron learned how to take care of lawns by doing lawn care treatments in Crystal Lake and through that work he also learned customers wanted a better way, they wanted lawn and tree care done, the way it should be done. Aaron worked at Barefoot Grass and another Turf service but wanted to treat the residents of Crystal Lake with a higher quality lawn service. After Barefoot Grass was bought by Tru Green in 1997, it seemed a perfect time to launch Aaron's Greenscape and we have enjoyed keeping the high quality lawn and tree care a part of the McHenry County experience for thousands of customers properties since.
